Our Services

The following is a list of services that ALKINDI offers to students who are planning to study in New Zealand as well as services for students’ families and for course providers:

• Information and Planning Students are guided by the ALKINDI team in making decisions regarding their further education and to assist them towards achieving their long-term educational goals.  This involves balancing the students’ requirements; students' eligibility as well as specifying the various programs available.
  Career-counseling and analysis is also provided, to assist and guide students in relation to:

  • Suitability of their academic background;

  • Education opportunities in New Zealand as compared to other countries;

  • Academic programs, specific courses and recommended course providers, with consideration also given to the student’s or family’s personal preferences;

  • Future career plans;

  • The financial commitment involved.

• Enrolment at New Zealand Tertiary Institutions, Schools and PTEs  (Private Training Establishments) Services include document preparation, submission of proposals (for post-graduate studies), application processing, and preparation for interview and intake-testing if any.   ALKINDI also monitors the transfer of funds for the payment of course fees.  Assistance is provided with completing New Zealand visa requirements.  The admissions process is followed up, through to final confirmation of a place and formal acceptance by the student. 

• Introduction to the New Zealand Way of Life  Detailed, up-to-date information is provided on our website and in a more personalised form for each student as required. ALKINDI is also in the process of developing a specialised welcome-and-information service, for students settling into New Zealand life with their families.

• Support Services

  • Welfare and Supervision: On-going general and academic guidance, counselling and interpreting services are available throughout the students’ stay in New Zealand, along with continued involvement in their welfare.  ALKINDI operates in line with the NZ government’s Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, to which the education providers recommended by ALKINDI are signatories. 

  • Academic Progress, Individual progress assessment and other reporting is undertaken by ALKINDI on a regular basis.  This is carried out in consultation with the education provider, and a review is made of the student’s goals and the courses selected.  ALKINDI can then arrange for any additional academic guidance or specialist tutoring services which may be required

• Travel Arrangements and Accommodation Return tickets from the Middle East are purchased on the students’ behalf by our offices.  Airport transfers in New Zealand can also be booked for the students. ALKINDI. in New Zealand will arrange suitable accommodation in co-operation with the education provider.  The options available include hosting by home-stay families and private rental accommodation such as hostels, flats and family homes. 

• Services to Schools ALKINDI provides schools with a local point of contact in New Zealand, where its staff members are fluent in both Arabic and English.  Total Quality principles are applied to the ALKINDI service to students, and the same professionalism can be seen in ALKINDI’s approach to course providers.  In addition to the smooth handling of enrolment applications and transfer of fee payments, experienced personnel are available at ALKINDI to assist with issues concerning the students’ education and welfare.  An English-Arabic translation service is available for schools, and individual or team advisory sessions can be held on site regarding the hosting of Muslim-Arab students and other matters of cross-cultural interaction.

In the field of mathematics, AlKindi played an important role in introducing Indian numerals to the Islamic and Christian world. He was a pioneer in cryptanalysis and devised several new methods of breaking ciphers. Using his mathematical and medical expertise, he was able to develop a scale that would allow doctors to quantify the potency of their medication. He also experimented with music therapy.
